UNCONTAINABLE

“Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written” (John 21:25).

I love books, and I love reading!  Once when I visited the Library of Congress, I self-imposed a moment of silence.  I was awestruck.  It is the world’s largest library, after all, with over 120 MILLION items.  That is mind-boggling!

What’s even more mind-boggling is this verse, which testifies to the AWESOMENESS of our Lord.  Notice how it says, “Jesus DID many other things.”  Jesus is a man of action.  He didn’t think about doing stuff, he didn’t sit around planning to do stuff - HE DID STUFF.

I am certain if “the whole world could not contain the books that would be written” (this includes the Library of Congress) about everything Jesus did, that this means He has already done every single thing we are need of. In other words, He’s been there and done that, He's heard that prayer and answered it, and He will do it again.

I wonder how many requests He's had for a healing touch on a marriage, for a place to live, for a new job, for a rebellious child, for a sick family member, for money to pay bills, for peace from a tormenting situation, for hope that everything will be okay, for someone to share life with, for the ability to have a baby, for self-control...The list is literally endless, and so is Jesus' ability, power, and desire to help us. 

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You that You are awesome!  It is beyond our comprehension that Jesus did so many wonderful things, but we are overjoyed to know He is active in our lives today.  We are eager for our miracle to be listed among the works of Jesus.  Help us in this area ________________________ today.  In Christ’s name, AMEN~ 

He's a Page Turner!

Psalm 118:24 “God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes.”

As you may or may not know I love reading – especially spy novels.  Not long ago I arrived at the library and was thrilled the book I had reserved almost six months ago was finally ready for me to pick up.  I knew I would binge read, and I couldn’t wait.  I would go to my little corner of the couch, set up a cold beverage, put on my special glasses – the ones with the convenient headlights attached to the temples – and relish page after page of international thrills and intrigue!

When I got to page two I thought, “This seems oddly familiar.”  But honestly, there are several spy novel authors I read, and sometimes all the main characters sort of merge.  But by the end of chapter one I knew I had already read this book.  I was so disappointed. I wanted new action; I was ready for a new adventure.  Enough of the same ole’ same ole’.

Sometimes, we are eager for a change.  We want to move on.  We feel stuck on the same page and can’t seem to advance.  Today I am here to announce that God is a Page Turner.

He will get us out of the current chapter we are in and into another one.  I want to especially shout out to my friend who has been stuck in the chapter of infertility for a long time.  It’s boring and frustrating. (What chapter are you in?) And I want to remind her and all of us that God desires to turn the page and write a new chapter in each of our lives.

The first step is to open up the book of our heart to Him.  Let Him take a peek inside.  He knows what we need, when we need it, how we need, why we need, and how we need it.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Turn the page!  Some of us have been on the same paragraph, same page, same chapter for far too long.  We are eager to put some stuff behind us and get a fresh and blessed start.  Thank You that are the Page Turner.  In Jesus’ name, AMEN~

  

Jesus Did Many Other Things...

John 21:25 “Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.”

I love books, and I love reading!  For Mother’s Day this past year, Rayray gave me a pillow that says, “I Love Big Books And I Cannot Lie.”  Of course, it’s true, and I use it to prop up any big book I am reading.  (Right now I am reading The Goldfinch: A Novel).  Also, years ago when I visited the Library of Congress, I self-imposed a moment of silence; I was awestruck.  It’s the world’s largest library with over 120 MILLION items.  That is mind boggling!

This is why the verse above speaks so powerfully to me. It testifies to the INCALCULABLE AWESOMENESS of our Lord by using books as a means of comparison. And notice how it says, “Jesus DID many other things.”  Jesus is a man of action.  He didn’t think about doing stuff, he didn’t sit around planning to do stuff, HE DID STUFF.

I am certain that if “the whole world could not contain the books that would be written” (this includes the Library of Congress) about everything Christ did, then for sure and most certainly Jesus has already done every single thing that you need done right now.  In other words, He’s been there and done that, and He will do it again.
