Dearest
DEVO readers,
Did I
think I could go through life without ever having to actually practice what I
preach? NOPE, and yesterday was one of
those days where I ran to the Fortified
Tower
At
11:32 AM Mrs. Urgell, A.K.A. Rayray, call me and calmly says she is in the hospital. I take a deep breath and remind myself that
if I get hysterical, then she will get hysterical.
“Are
you ok? What happened?”
“I almost
fainted and had really sharp stomach pains.”
“How
are you feeling now?”
“They
gave me some strong medicine, and I feel better.”
“Did
they do blood work?”
“Yes,
and everything is fine. They have ruled
out appendicitis, and I am going in for a sonogram soon.”
“Ok. I am on my way.”
I hung
up the phone, and before you can say, “Hot dog and a cornbread,” I was in God’s
holy presence asking for wisdom, healing, and peace.”
How do
I know prayer works? The answer is
simple: God responded to me, and I was
as calm as calm could be.
I
texted a few folks to say a prayer for us, and headed off to the emergency
room. Long story short she had a little
ovarian cyst that decided to have a fireworks display in her belly. The pain can be really rough, but God bless
her, Rayray has always seen fit to avail herself of all the fine emergency services
our great community provides, and she rode first class, via ambulance, all the
way to the hospital where they immediately treated her. By the time I saw her the worst had passed,
and the first thing she said to me was, “Please do not take any pictures,”
which was a shame because she looked so pretty in her green gown. Then I turned to her hubby, a man whose marriage
has made me very happy, and encouraged him to regularly put his hands on his
beautiful wife and pray for a blessing over her body, and because he is used to
me being a little pushy he smiled and assured me he would! Rayray was released shortly thereafter, and Jorge
and I hung out at their house for a few hours just to sort of nonchalantly
supervise.
Will
you all join me in saying AMEN? Take it
from me. God is ready to answer when we
run to Him.

Dear Lord, Thank You that You provide soothing for our souls. There is nothing that catches You by surprise. You are always ready to dispense whatever we
need to deal with life. Blessed be Your
name, in Jesus we pray, AMEN~
